Reading the site

Reading, map browsing and subscriptions need no location permission. You choose regions manually.

For reporting-region selection or corrections to published retrospective LA/OC reports, you may tap ‘Check my current county’ to request a one-time device location through your browser. No background tracking: raw coordinates stay on your device and are discarded, never uploaded or saved by ICE Radar. An optional county result and check time may accompany your private correction. The estimate can be spoofed and proves neither past presence nor report truth. Documentary corrections need no location permission.

Share region on community map

Your city/county and received time appear immediately as unverified for 2 hours. Photos and text remain private, awaiting review.

Received time—not occurrence time or current presence. Coarse region only. Private only: no community map entry. Photos and text await staff review.

Photo privacy

Private, staff-reviewed photos only. Server processing removes EXIF/GPS metadata; visible faces, addresses or identifiers still need editor redaction. No automatic publication or verification. JPEG/PNG/WebP, max 3, 8 MB input each; resized to 1600 px.

Received time is recorded automatically. Occurrence and photo capture time remain unknown unless supplied.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store your email address, chosen language, optional state, and the time you consented. We use it only to send the digest. We don't sell or share it. To delete it, contact us once an editor email is published on the Contact page (not yet configured).

Analytics

We measure aggregate usage (page views, searches, outbound source clicks, shares) with Google Analytics 4 when configured, with IP anonymization. Analytics never loads if your browser sends Do Not Track, or if you opt out below. Analytics is not currently configured on this site, so no analytics data is collected.

Editors

Editor accounts are used only to review and publish reports.
